The concept is to have DKMS modules automatically rebuilt when a new kernel is installed. An essential feature of DKMS is that it automatically recompiles all DKMS modules if a new kernel version is installed. This allows drivers and devices outside of the mainline kernel to continue working after a Linux kernel upgrade. Another benefit of DKMS is that it allows the installation of a new driver on an existing system, running an arbitrary kernel version, without any need for manual compilation or precompiled packages provided by the vendor. DKMS was written by the Linux Engineering Team at Dell in 2003. It is included in many distributions, such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, SUSE, and Arch. DKMS is free software released under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) v2 or later. DKMS supports both the rpm and deb package formats out-of-the-box."},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Generic initramfs generation tool","firstseen":"2010-05-04T00:54:45.661860","maintainer":"chutzpah@gentoo.org","maintainername":"Patrick McLean","name":"dracut","packageid":42902},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Early unlocking of encrypted systems via ssh for dracut","firstseen":"2018-03-15T16:41:14.004007","name":"dracut-crypt-ssh","packageid":68773,"summary":"crypt-ssh is a dracut module which allows remote unlocking of block devices encrypted with LUKS via ssh, during the initramfs stage of the boot."},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Gentoo automatic kernel building scripts","firstseen":"2010-05-04T00:54:45.661860","maintainer":"genkernel@gentoo.org","name":"genkernel","packageid":49351},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Linux kernel built with Gentoo patches","firstseen":"2020-01-10T15:47:05.743392","name":"gentoo-kernel","packageid":70588},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Pre-built Linux kernel with Gentoo patches","firstseen":"2020-01-10T15:47:05.743392","name":"gentoo-kernel-bin","packageid":70589},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Full sources including the Gentoo patchset for the 6.19 kernel tree","firstseen":"2010-05-04T00:54:45.661860","maintainer":"kernel@gentoo.org","maintainername":"Gentoo Kernel Project","name":"gentoo-sources","packageid":42849},{"categoryid":363,"description":"The very latest -git version of the Linux kernel","firstseen":"2021-08-27T19:32:10.142686","name":"git-sources","packageid":73307},{"categoryid":363,"description":"GNU Mach microkernel, for the Hurd","firstseen":"2026-03-15T22:58:38.065035","name":"gnumach","packageid":78865},{"categoryid":363,"description":"GNU Hurd is the GNU project's replacement for UNIX","firstseen":"2026-03-15T22:58:38.065035","name":"hurd","packageid":78866},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Gentoo fork of installkernel script from debianutils","firstseen":"2024-01-12T11:41:47.199460","name":"installkernel","packageid":76889},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Stand alone tool to interact with KernelCI","firstseen":"2025-01-22T10:34:12.234498","name":"kci-dev","packageid":78136},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Kernel config generator","firstseen":"2015-04-13T13:43:10.641941","maintainer":"jlec@gentoo.org","maintainername":"Justin Lecher","name":"kergen","packageid":63357},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Dynamic kernel patching for Linux","firstseen":"2017-06-06T18:36:37.480700","name":"kpatch","packageid":66986},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Developer documentation generated from the Linux kernel","firstseen":"2010-05-04T00:54:45.661860","maintainer":"mpagano@gentoo.org","name":"linux-docs","packageid":54590},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Linux firmware files","firstseen":"2010-05-04T00:54:45.661860","maintainer":"gregkh@gentoo.org","maintainername":"Greg Kroah-Hartman","name":"linux-firmware","packageid":45911},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Linux system headers","firstseen":"2010-05-04T00:54:45.661860","maintainer":"toolchain@gentoo.org","maintainername":"Gentoo Toolchain Project","name":"linux-headers","packageid":52472},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Linux kernel and patches aimed at the next kernel merge window","firstseen":"2021-09-30T00:20:29.467216","name":"linux-next","packageid":73375},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Kernel.org sources for MIPS-based machines","firstseen":"2010-05-04T00:54:45.661860","maintainer":"mips@gentoo.org","maintainername":"Mips Team","name":"mips-sources","packageid":44926,"summary":"Kernel.org LTS releases that focus on fixing any issues with current in-tree MIPS systems (primarily SGI), as well as adding missing support for any out-of-tree systems via custom patches."},{"categoryid":363,"description":"Keeps track of EVERY kernel module ever used -
